About Centenary Suburbs Men's Shed Inc

Centenary Suburbs Men's Shed, is part of the men’s shed movement in Australia, under the Australian Men’s Shed Association. AMSA is the peak body representing more than 1040 Men’s Sheds and is recognised as one of Australia’s largest male based Community Development organisations. The shed was formed as a response to the 2011 Brisbane flood disaster to assist the local Community Recovery Group. The shed is registered as a charity organisation with the Australian Charities and Not for Profit Commission. The shed has a Deductable Gift Recipient (DGR) status as an organisation endorsed (or officially recognised) by the ATO as having a “special tax status” which allows for donations to be tax deductable. From humble beginnings at an unpowered gardener’s shed at the Jindalee Golf Course, the shed has steadily progressed to now having purpose-built facilities where local men can spend time being socially active, form new relationships, learn/re-learn skills and share experiences. Much of the success can be attributed to the tireless work of long-standing members, dogged grant application processes, a growing number of sponsors and new members keeping the momentum going. In turn, they are committed to providing support to other local community groups that need assistance from time to time.

Centenary Suburbs Men's Shed is based in the Centenary suburbs in south-west Brisbane. Regular meetings are held at 125 Monier Road, Seventeen Mile Rocks, with guest speakers covering general interest topics and men’s health and wellbeing. Centenary Suburbs Men's Shed has established community partnerships with local clubs and institutions, and has assisted in community assistance jobs.

Activities: Community and other ad hoc activities run constantly. For more details please email us at info@csms.org.au.
